CHRIS FORSYTH AND THE SOLAR MOTEL BAND
A highly-accomplished guitarist and composer whose work combines art-rock textures with influences from jazz and Americana, Chris Forsyth has become something of an underground legend in his native US. Teaming up with exemplary backing group The Solar Motel Band in 2013, the band have provoked comparisons to visionaries such as Television, The Grateful Dead, Neil Young, Richard Thompson and Popol Vuh.
The outfit’s eponymous debut set was released to universal acclaim in 2014, with The Quietus saying “It’s just immense”. Second album ‘The Rarity Of Experience’ (2016) received similarly ecstatic notices, Pitchfork praising it as “a near-perfect balance between 70s rock tradition and present day experimentation”, while The New York Times highlighted the LP’s evocation of US indie rock icons Slint and Sonic Youth.
