Joining a steady stream of French bands who have played Psych Fest (The Limíñanas, Bamtam Lyons, ARLT), Toulouse collective AQUASERGE make a return trip to Merseyside. The band’s leader Julien Gasc appeared at last year’s event as part of trio Aquagascallo, and 2017 sees Gasc take to the stage as part of the usual quintet. Touring to promote fourth LP ‘laisse ça être’, the album was greeted with an excellent reception in January, experimental music authority The Wire celebrating the disc as “global, cosmic and genuinely kaleidoscopic”.
Signed to La Souterraine who Pitchfork praised as ‘unearthing the future of French pop’ since their first compilation album in 2013, Aquaserge are part of an interconnected web, collaborating with frontline psych acts Tame Impala, Stereolab, Melody’s Echo Chamber and Acid Mothers Temple.
