Led by Brooklyn-based ambient artist John Bohannon, ANCIENT OCEAN released their first formal album ‘Blood Moon’ to widespread acclaim in June 2015.  Steeped in New York’s avant garde heritage, the outfit draw inspiration from groundbreaking minimalist composers Terry Riley and La Monte Young.
Building on a string of lauded CD-Rs and supports slots for Lee Ranaldo, Stars Of The Lid and A Winged Victory For the Sullen, ‘Blood Moon’ was issued through underground label Beyond Beyond is Beyond Records, and features four songs that gradually unspool over 41 mesmeric minutes. Acclaimed in the US and UK, The Quietus hailed the LP as a “rich, ambient journey filled with lush landscapes”, while highly influential NYC publication Village Voice described the disc as a “sub-metal pool of guitar drones, deeper than Davy Jones’s Locker in a ketamine hole”.
